Barnet Hospital - Larch Ward - Electrical

Working in conjunction with our fabric division’s refurbishment programme, we carried out a complete electrical revamp of the Dementia Ward of Barnet Hospital.

The project was undertaken in a live hospital environment. We therefore worked in close conjunction with the designers, consultants, senior hospital management and ward staff to schedule the various aspects of the works.

In addition to formal weekly project meetings, we remained flexible with our plans on a day to day basis to accommodate any unscheduled changes in ward activities.

As an integral part of the project, we renewed every electrical accessory, including distribution boards, general lighting, small power, sockets and switches, as part of a 15 year lifecycle replacement programme.

An improved lighting scheme was installed, incorporating an innovative new design from the USA, integrating a bright LED lit picture of a skylight within the ceiling tiles.

In addition to providing all the electrical works for bedhead trunking and TV points, we also installed a large TV facility at the nurse station. This system incorporated a patient tracking system and the capacity for friends and relatives to bring in selections of photo images of patients’ lives on USB sticks. These pleasant images were then scrolled on the TV in the communal area, providing familiarity and reassurance to the occupants of the ward.
