NatWest Brighton
Replacement roofing works to this Grade II Listed Building encompassed the replacement of roof coverings, both natural slate and lead; stone cleaning and stone restoration; replacement and enhancement of Anti-Bird Systems; brickwork and render repairs; extensive joinery replacement and repair; restoration of bronze finished windows and complete external decorations.
The works were carried out to the bank branch, which is located in a prominent position in this busy coastal town, whilst it remained fully operational and open to the public. Full access scaffolding was erected to all principal elevations and remained in situ for the duration of the project.
The entire project was undertaken in close liaison with, and to the approval of, the local Conservation Officer. It consequently incorporated the renewal of traditional materials and finishes including repointing using lime mortar, the renewal of Welsh slates and internal repairs and redecorations to lath and plaster walls and ceilings.
Where the employment of original materials was not viable, we utilised modern products and materials to provide sympathetic restoration. For example, ‘Heritage’ style gutters and drainpipes were fitted, timber box sash windows were replaced with new, glazed roof lights were repaired, and extensive renovation to the original stonework balustrading was carried out.
